Today her colleagues call her “The Queen of Emotional Learning.” She’s made peace with resentment being a valid part of a full spectrum of emotions and moods, and now coaches others on how to consciously access their spectrum for more effective living. Once she said a compassionate “Hello!” to her own inner tortoise, she stopped strapping a rocket to her back 24/7, opting only for the occasional demanding push. Steady as she goes, Carol came to understand that her inner tortoise was inherently motivated to get her over the finish line successfully. Burning it out truly diminished the joy of the journey and put much of what she treasured at risk. She discovered that she didn’t have to change everything for everything to change, and so she designed the powerful but Simple Practices of Emotional Agility.
It is no surprise the gutsy young girl racing the Giant Slalom would eventually teach others to feel their own sufficiency in motion. It’s no surprise that she would coach them how to remain emotionally agile and resilient as they change speed and direction in their careers and lives. And to enable them to strive for their personal bests while protecting their inner tortoise insuring they cross the finish line joyful and satisfied.
Good thing too, because she had discovered there is a huge crowd of burned out, self-sacrificing, ever-striving, never-enough, overachievers, most of whom are aching for a new way and the new rallying cry — Save Your Inner Tortoise!
